Let’s Have A Virtual Book Club

Let’s Have A Virtual Book Club

In the past, we have had a sporadic book club here at The Hollow.  We would pick a book, dye yarn to go with it, and put together book boxes with fun extras. Finally, we might discuss the book either on the podcast or as a separate video or live stream but there was very little rhyme or reason to those Toads of the past.

Usher in 2020, our self proclaimed YEAR OF THE TOAD, and we have a plan (you might hear this a lot from us)!  We have a theme for our yarn and a list of books that we want to read next year.  We’ve organized the books by category and we’ve picked one  each month that we invite you to read along with us.  We will have weekly discussion threads over on our Facebook Group, Crafting With The Toads and then, at the end of the month, we will record a video with our discussion about the overall book.

Are you ready to start reading? Let’s see what  we are reading this year.

January - Category: Books About Books - The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alex E. Harrow

February - Category: Romance - The Bromance Bookclub by Lisa’s Kay Adams

March - Category: YA - The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch

April - Category: Historical Fiction - The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah

May - Category: Chick Lit  - The Vampire Knitting Club by Nancy Warren

June - Category: Suspense/Thriller - The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware

July - Category: Fairy Tale Retelling - Cinder by Marissa Meyer

August - Category: Mystery - The Bookman’s Tale by Charlie Lovett

September - Category: Horror/Paranormal - The Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo

October  - Category: Nonfiction/Biography - My Family and Other Animals by Gerald Durrell

November - Category: Debut Novel - The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper by Phaedra Patrick

December - Category: Magical Realism - The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey

We are so excited about our choices, now the biggest problem is stopping ourselves from reading ahead.

Which book from this list are you most excited to read? Ours is The Bookman’s Tale by Charlie Lovett.

Can’t wait! Really looking forward to The Nightingale, since I loved her earlier book. But vampire knitting is intriguing.
