‘When the most recent edition of the Oxford Junior Dictionary was published, it was noticed that around forty common words concerning nature had been dropped. The words were no longer being used enough by children to merit their place in the dictionary. Thes list of these “lost words” included acorn, dandelion, and adder. The words taking their place were blog, attachment, and voice-mail.

In response, Robert Macfarlane and Jackie Morris set out to make a “spell book” that would conjure back twenty of these lost words, and the beings they name, in a book called The Lost Words. This is a book that has already cast its extraordinary spell on hundreds of thousands of people and begun a grassroots movement to re-wild childhood.’ From The Lost Words

We love the idea of re-wilding children :) Also, the illustrations are so amazing, it inspired us to create a collection of yarn. At this time, there are five colors in the collection: adder, dandelion puff, acorn, goldfinch, and the lost words. This listing is for ACORN

Our yarns are hand dyed or hand painted using professional acid dyes. We wash each skein carefully after dying but slight bleeding may occur during first wash. Skeins may vary in color slightly so if using more than one skein of yarn in a project, please alternate skeins every few rows.

This soft, squishy yarn is perfect for socks, shawls, sweaters or any project where you would use a Fingering weight.

Care of yarn - superwash merino will allow you to wash your items in the washing machine but please use cold water. For best results and care, hand washing is recommended.
