JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH from our Favorite Books collection Hand Dyed Superwash Merino Yarn,Sock Toad
During a virtual trunk show with Paige from Frame and Fiber, we discussed some of our favorite books as children. You can find the video here. This is one of the books chosen by Paige.
We totally concur with Paige’s choice of James and the Giant Peach from Roald Dahl. James escapes the clutches of his vile aunts by flying away on a giant peach accompanied by several very large anthropomorphic insects.
Paige saw a peach colored yarn with purple, green and rusty colored speckles. We started with a yellow base and covered that with and orange-y pink to get the perfect color of a peach. We speckled it with lots of colors to represent the insects.
Yarn is available in fingering and DK weights:
Sock Toad Base: $28/skein
80% superwash merino, 20% Nylon
Toad DK: $28/skein
100% superwash merino
Our yarns are hand dyed or hand painted using professional acid dyes. We wash each skein carefully after dying but slight bleeding may occur during first wash. Skeins may vary in color slightly so if using more than one skein of yarn in a project, please alternate skeins every few rows.
This soft, squishy yarn is perfect for socks, shawls, sweaters or any project where you would use a Fingering weight.
Care of yarn - superwash merino will allow you to wash your items in the washing machine but please use cold water. For best results and care, hand washing is recommended.
