GLORIA from No Flying in the House in our Favorite Books collection Hand Dyed Superwash Merino Yarn,Sock ToadSold Out
During a virtual trunk show with Paige from Frame and Fiber, we discussed some of our favorite books as children. You can find the video here. This is one of the books chosen by Mary Beth.
No Flying in the House by Betty Brock is a book about a girl who finds out that she is really a fairy. She has a guardian, a little white dog named Gloria, who wears a gold collar with jewels in it. One day, a talking cat named Belinda tells her that if she can kiss her elbow, that means she’s a fairy. I cannot tell you how many times I have tried to kiss my elbow.
This yarn is a nod to Gloria - we speckled it with all kinds of colors and then poured a gold wash over parts of the yarn.
Yarn is available in fingering and DK weights:
Sock Toad Base: $28/skein
80% superwash merino, 20% Nylon
Toad DK: $28/skein
100% superwash merino
Our yarns are hand dyed or hand painted using professional acid dyes. We wash each skein carefully after dying but slight bleeding may occur during first wash. Skeins may vary in color slightly so if using more than one skein of yarn in a project, please alternate skeins every few rows.
This soft, squishy yarn is perfect for socks, shawls, sweaters or any project where you would use a Fingering weight.
Care of yarn - superwash merino will allow you to wash your items in the washing machine but please use cold water. For best results and care, hand washing is recommended.
