Those who have been with us since our Fragile Earth Stuffed Animal days may remember our mascot Clive. Clive is a Cordy Roy Aardvark from Jellycat and he has traveled many places with us.  He loves the theater!! And he's always a hit at the Javit's Center for the New York Now (gift show). We decided that our social media posts were missing a little pizzazz and checked to see if Clive were free to pick up his mascot duties again. QUILTING 101

Yesterday, we held our first quilting class at Toad Hollow. Most people attending were complete novices so Nancy, our instructor, began at the beginning. She brought some partially finished blocks to show us color theory and the importance of finding fabrics that work together. We were starting with a simple 9 square block. From her quilter's bible, 5500 Quilting Block Designs by Maggie Malone, (which you know we now NEED to get!) Fun Making Dog Pillows

In the craziness of the season, one of our most popular sellers this year has been our Custom Dog Pillows.     It's always fun to realize that there's an army of crazy dog people out there (we are card carrying members here at Toad Hollow)!  We have made them for all breeds and even a couple of cats.  It's a blast to see the three loving phrases people come up with to describe their dogs.   We sent them all over the world.  Gus here was our furthest destination and is on his way to Taiwan! Happy Accidents

There are times when something starts out as a problem and winds up as a beautiful solution. We call them Happy Accidents here at Toad Hollow. Yesterday, a customer bought one of our pillows, in turquoise burlap with a cream anchor painted on it. Unfortunately, we had run out of that color and our local fabric store does not stock it during the fall/winter.
